Chapter Three (Patience)

Well as of today February 26, 2017, we have everything provisioned for the boat.  We are now waiting for a last minute late delivery that is being sent from Colorado to us.  It will most likely be here tomorrow or possibly as late as Tuesday.  However, if it takes until Tuesday, then we don’t have a weather window to sail off until the weekend?  It is so frustrating?   In addition we had some unexpected issues with one of the wind generators.  On Friday we took it down, headed to Fort Lauderdale to an electronics business.  They fixed it and we came back 6 hours later. I hoisted Steve up the Mizzen, and  then he put the generator back into place.  He is now making sure all of the electronics are in working order.  It was a long day for both of us.  Me because I don’t understand all that goes into maintaining a boat and him because he is only one guy trying to take it all on!   So, here we sit on the boat not knowing when we can leave?  What I do know is that we can’t push it and leave until everything in place, wind speed and direction as well as tides?  Tomorrow we will return our rental car so we need to have everything that we need in place. And then we wait! And then wait for appropriate weather to cross the gulfstream.

  1. I'm glad you are waiting for the necessaries, but I am sure that time is going to pay off by you being totally prepared. I don't even know what a mizzen is so you're ahead of me. Stay safe and keep posting.

  2. Ugh, right? Make good choices, be comfortable and have your equipment in good working order! It is amazing how much there is to learn but people go out with much less experience than you already have! I am excited to see your journey! Fair Winds!
